Blue Moon in Saggitarius 2026
The Universe: “Let’s give her a plot twist.”
Me: “WE ARE GOING ON AN ADVENTURE!”
May 31st, 2026, Sagittarius Full Moon:You know what happens once in a blue moon? A chance and/or reminder to choose your own life again. But don’t worry, this doens’t have to happen through a big crisis or painful kind of wake-up call. This one is more of a rare "I actually already knew this" moment of clarity. That is what's on the menu on May 31st. A Blue Moon in Sagittarius, loaded with the most honest, freedom-loving, horizon-seeking energy of the zodiac. And she has something to say.
The ones with a sagittarius bestie already know. They are the enthusiastic, unfiltered, wildly optimistic, perpetually-almost-late-for-something fire sign friend. They are the person at the dinner table who will order the thing nobody else dares to order, laugh the loudest, spontaneously suggest a road trip at 10pm, and then look you dead in the eye and say something so honest it rearranges your entire internal brain structure. No warning or apology because this truth gets served warmly, with a side of absolute confidence.
Sagittarius doesn't do small talk. They do big ideas, big feelings, big adventures, and big uncomfortable truths that you'll be thinking about for three weeks. Some things my Sag-bestie from Spain mentioned in 2019 are still having an impact on me today. In a good way! They are the philosophers of the zodiac. The wanderers. The teachers. The ones who will read six books, travel to two countries, take up archery, and start a podcast all in the same month. And yes, they may not finish all of those things. But the starting? Spectacular. They can build empires when they are surrounded by the right people!
Ruled by Jupiter, the planet of expansion, abundance, and "more of everything, please," Sagittarius is always pointing at the horizon. Always asking: What else is out there? What do I believe? What is the larger truth here? At their best, they are inspiring, free, wildly courageous, and radiantly alive. At their shadow side, they can drift toward avoidance disguised as optimism. Like a kind of "good vibes only" armour that keeps them from sitting with the parts of life that aren't an adventure. The "let's just move forward" energy that sometimes accidentally skips over the things still quietly waiting to be felt. And then they end up with a fried nervous system, anxiety with a touch of cynism.. oops.
So anyways, this Full Moon is not here to let you skip. She is here to aim.
Here in the Netherlands, this Blue Moon peaks at 10:44 am, which means she arrives in full power mid-morning. You might wake up already feeling it! Restlessness in your body. That quiet pull toward something bigger. That voice saying: "There is more. And I know it." In the yoga section of this blog I’ll give you an amazing free idea to do this summer ;).
This is actually the second Full Moon of May. We already had the Flower Moon in Scorpio on May 1st, if you recall that rather emotionally intensive chapter, which makes this one officially a Blue Moon. It is also the last Full Moon of the spring season. A portal is closing. May has been an extraordinary month for most of us. It made us feel deeply, to release, to be honest about what is and isn't alive in our lives. And now, before spring hands over to summer, this Blue Moon arrives as the final breath of that chapter:
“Okay. You've done the work. Now, what are you actually aiming for?”
And in my own life I’m feeling this energy already, and I’m here for it.
I’m starting a new job in June, as well as hopefully graduating my intense Reiki Therapy training, renewing and rearranging Amapola, signed up for Reformer Pilates classes AND on top of that.. in the past 2 days I’ve booked two holiday trips, because.. YOLO (is that still a thing to say). So how many trips have you been fantasising about this week so far? and have you already caught yourself wondering: what is this life actually for?
That is the medicine of this Blue Moon. She is asking you to remember why you are doing any of this in the first place. And what you truly believe about yourself, about what is possible, about what is worth aiming your one wild and precious life at.
So. Let's go there.
Why do we call it a Blue Moon?
"Once in a Blue Moon" you've heard it, right? It means rare. Unusual. The kind of thing that doesn't come around often and therefore deserves your full attention when it does.
A Blue Moon is the name given to the second full moon in a single calendar month. Since we already had the Flower Moon in Scorpio on May 1st, this May 31st Full Moon in Sagittarius earns that rare title. She is the unexpected extra. The bonus round. And like the flower moon didn’t turn into a flower and the pink moon didn’t turn pink, this moon does not actually turn blue. Although that would be incredibly dramatic and I would love to see it, honestly. The name has several possible origins, one of the more charming ones being that rare atmospheric events, like volcanic ash or wildfire smoke, can make the moon appear slightly blue in colour.
What I love about a Blue Moon energetically is that it carries the feeling of a plot twist. The month isn't done yet. There is one more moment of illumination. One more chance to look up, look inward, and ask yourself what you might have missed the first time around. It is a second full moon, yet not a repetition. It's a deeper layer. Like a song playing on repeat and suddenly you notice a lyric you'd never heard before.
In the month that began with Scorpio's deep dive into shadows, truth, and emotional endings, this Blue Moon in Sagittarius arrives as the natural next chapter: Now what do you do with all of that truth you uncovered? Scorpio showed you what needed to go. Sagittarius is here to ask: And where are you going now? Like the archer has been handed the bow. This is your moment to aim.
A little extra: what happened around December 19th in your life?
Before we go deeper into the energy of this moon, here is a little bonus deep dive.
Back on December 19th, 2025, there was a New Moon in Sagittarius. New moons are planting moments: seeds of intention, beginning, possibility. Whatever was stirring in you around that time, whatever was being quietly born or dreamed into existence, is now, six months later, under this Blue Moon, ready to come to light.
So the question to ask yourself is: What was I beginning, dreaming, questioning, or stepping toward around mid-December? A decision you started sitting with.
Sometimes the universe plants something quietly and lets you forget about it, just to show you, six months later, how far you've already come. For me for example, that was the start of signing up for the Reiki therapy training! IIEEE and I knoowwww where my arrow is pointing now and it feels great.
What you might experience during this Sagittarius Full Moon
If you've been feeling an unusual mix of restlessness, inspiration, impatience, and a sudden deep craving to do something, go somewhere, or change something.
That’s it, that’s her.
Sagittarius Full Moons tend to bring up a very specific kind of energy: the energy of the soul that has been sitting still for too long. Not depressed, not stuck exactly, but itchy. Like a bird that has been living in a very comfortable cage and suddenly realizes the door has always been open.
And this particular Blue Moon has an extra charge running through it. The Sun is exactly conjunct Uranus at the moment of this Full Moon. Uranus being the planet of sudden awakening, insights, and the kind of change that arrives not when you planned it but when you needed it.. The kind where something clicks in your nervous system and you suddenly can't un-know what you now know.
What that might look like in real life: a conversation that rearranges something in you. A realization that drops in from nowhere. A sudden clarity about something you've been circling for months. What this means practically: expect the unexpected. Expect things to shift quickly, both inside and around you. And, importantly, expect your comfort zone to feel more uncomfortable than the change it's been protecting you from. Recognize that restless, suffocated feeling of "I cannot keep doing this the same way"?
The Gemini-Sagittarius axis this moon sits on is all about the tension between information and wisdom. Gemini collects the data, the facts, the opinions, the endless input of a noisy world. Sagittarius synthesizes it into meaning. Right now there is so much information flying around, so much noise, so many other people's truths competing for your attention. This moon is asking: can you still find your own? Can you quiet the feed long enough to hear what you actually believe? Or are you too busy distracting yourself?
This is also why this moon calls for your own inner compass, not more external direction. The world has plenty of noise. You have wisdom. Trust the difference.
The beautiful thing is that alongside all that awakening energy, there is also something steadying underneath this moon. Like a deep, quiet hand on your shoulder reminding you: No time for drama or bullshit, this is about building something real. The insight wants to land in your body and stay there. Not just a peak moment of clarity, but an actual shift you can live in.
So yes, things may feel surprising or intense around this moon. But the invitation is embodied truth. Change that you can actually walk into, one foot in front of the other.
This moon can illuminate themes around:
Belief systems: What do you actually believe? About yourself? About what is possible for you? About the story you have been telling about why things can't change? When those beliefs are aligned with who we truly are, life feels like freedom. When they are inherited, outdated, or fear-based, they feel like a cage, built from words/actions someone else handed us a long time ago.
Freedom vs. commitment: This moon has a way of making you notice everywhere you have given your "yes" from obligation, fear, or habit rather than genuine desire. Where are you committed to things that no longer call your name? And where are you avoiding commitment to the things that actually do?
Truth-telling: Do I still need to explain this one?
Your own inner compass: We live in a time of relentless noise. Opinions everywhere. Advice from every direction. Content, headlines, other people's stories about how life should look. This moon is a beautiful reset back to your own sense of direction. Not what makes sense to everyone else. What feels true to you, when you get honest and quiet enough to hear it.
Expansion vs. escapism: Sagittarius shadow loves to dress up avoidance as adventure. Running toward the next thing before feeling the weight of this one. Reframing a difficult emotion as "just a mindset thing" to avoid sitting in it. This moon gently but clearly asks: are you expanding, or are you escaping? There is a difference, and somewhere in your body, you already know which one it is.
Your body's whisper (or scream)
Sagittarius rules the hips, thighs, sciatic nerve, liver, and gluteal muscles. These are the parts of the body that quite literally carry us forward. The hips are our center of movement, the physical seat of our direction in life. It is no coincidence that we hold so much unprocessed emotion here.
You may notice tightness or discomfort in the hips and thighs, a flare-up of sciatic tension, or a general heaviness through the pelvis and lower body. You might also feel it in the liver as a sense of overload, irritability without obvious cause, or that specific kind of exhaustion that comes from carrying more than your body wants to carry. In Traditional Chinese Medicine, the liver is deeply connected to anger, stagnation, and unexpressed emotion. When the liver is burdened, the body often whispers through frustration, tension headaches, restless sleep, or feeling inexplicably "done" without knowing why.
The body may also signal this moon through restlessness: an inability to sit still, difficulty settling, a deep craving for movement or open space. Don't fight it. Your body may be trying to tell you that you need more of what Sagittarius offers: freedom, breath, movement, direction.
With all this energy running through this Full Moon, your nervous system may also feel like it has had one too many espresso shots: buzzing, alert, slightly overwhelmed by how much there is to think about and process. If that's you: less scrolling, more walking. Less consuming, more sitting with what you already know. And not to piss people off, but maybe a little less coffee while you’re at it. The answers you're looking for are not in another article. They are in the quiet beneath the noise.
Ask yourself:
Where in my body do I feel open and alive when I imagine where I actually want to go?
Your hips and thighs often know the answer before your mind finishes the sentence.
A special Sagittarius Full Moon ritual
So this month, I want to offer you something a little different. Something that fits this expansive, truth-seeking, "where am I actually going?" energy perfectly.
For this Blue Moon in Sagittarius, I'm offering a special discounted Human Design Reading session. Because if there is ever a moon that asks you to come home to your authentic design and to understand how you are actually built to make decisions, move through life, and use your energy in a way that is uniquely yours, it is this one. Human Design is, in my experience, one of the most grounding and liberating tools available. It stops the comparison. It stops the "why can't I just do it the way everyone else seems to?" loop. It gives you a map of your own energy, your own truth, and your own strategy for navigating life in a way that actually works for you.
This session is for you if:
You keep feeling like you're living someone else's life and you're not quite sure where yours is.
You're at a crossroads or expansion point and you want more clarity instead of more to-do lists.
You've been asking yourself "what do I actually want?" and the honest answer is: I don't fully know anymore.
You feel tired and want to learn about how your energy was naturally designed to work and how to practically implement steps in your life to get your energy back.
In this session, we'll explore your Human Design type, strategy, authority, and the specific way your energy is designed to flow, so you can stop swimming upstream and start trusting the current that was always built for you.
Use SAGGYBLUEMOON at checkout to receive your special discount here. This offer is available until the new moon in Gemini on June 15th.
What to focus on during yoga?
For your yoga practice under this Sagittarius Blue Moon, the invitation is to move from the inside out. This is not a practice for looking impressive on a mat. This is a practice for feeling free in your own body. For creating space in the hips and thighs, opening the front body, and giving your restless energy somewhere to land.
Sagittarius energy loves to run toward the horizon, but it can forget to feel its feet on the ground. So this practice is equal parts expansion and rooting. Let the poses open you, but let the breath bring you back to earth.
As a yoga teacher, I'd invite you to work with the hips, hip flexors, thighs, and the length of the spine, and to stay curious rather than forceful. Notice what wants to be released, what wants to be strengthened, and where you feel the urge to rush. The rushing is the practice. Can you stay, just a little longer, even when the Sagittarius in you wants to move on to the next thing? Invite the people that don’t wait for your cues to really wait for them. Surprise them by adding a bit of unplanned playfulness, like a plot twist in the pose or flow.
Five poses to explore:
Warrior I (Virabhadrasana I): The quintessential archer pose. This is Sagittarius in physical form: rooted in the earth, aiming at the heavens. Plottwist: throw in a ‘shoot the arrow movement’ for playfulness.
High Lunge / Crescent Pose (Anjaneyasana variation): A deep, expansive opening through the hip flexors and the entire front body. We store enormous amounts of stress, urgency, and "go go go" energy in the psoas muscle (that deep hip flexor that connects your lower spine to your thigh, and the one I injured last year). Breathe into the front of the pelvis. Soften the jaw. And let your chest open like you're finally ready to receive.
Lizard Pose (Utthan Pristhasana): For those days when the hips feel like they are holding the entire weight of everything undecided. This is a deep and honest hip opener. Move in slowly. Use blocks under your hands if needed. Let it be ugly and awkward if it needs to be.
Wide-Angle Seated Forward Fold (Upavistha Konasana): Legs wide, spine long, folding forward gently from the hips. This one is not about reaching your nose to the floor. It is about surrender into expansion. About trusting that you can take up more space. About releasing the inner thighs, which energetically hold so much around safety, control, and the fear of moving forward. Breathe here. Be patient. Let the floor come to you.
Reclined Figure Four / Supine Pigeon (Supta Kapotasana): For the sciatic nerve and the outer hip. This is one of the most accessible and deeply nourishing hip openers available.
! Little side note: Yoga studio Balanzs has just started their free weekly ‘summeryoga in the park’! So if this moon wants you to get up and try something, I highly recommend joining. It’s free for the whole summer AND no sign up needed. Every Sunday at 10:30 am in parks in Rotterdam, Den Haag and Amsterdam. This is not sponsored btw, just my genuine enthusiasm. This will be my 3rd year joining classes! Find out more through their instagram.
Reflective journal prompts
What do I actually believe about what is possible for me, and is that belief truly mine, or is it something I inherited from someone else's fear?
Where in my life have I been running toward the next thing instead of feeling what this thing is still trying to show me?
If I knew I couldn't fail, and no one would judge me, what would I be aiming at?
Where am I hiding behind "positivity," "moving forward," or "I'm fine" to avoid something that still needs to be felt?
Looking back to around December 19th, 2025: what was beginning, stirring, or quietly calling me then and where is that seed now?
Sagittarius’s parting words would be…
Look, Sagittarius would not waste your time with long philosophical speeches. They would say it clearly, look you in the eye, and probably already be halfway out the door toward the next adventure before you finished processing it:
Stop waiting for permission to want what you want.
You already know what lights you up. You already know what feels too small. You already know the dream you keep. You already know where you've been playing it safe and calling it responsible. This Blue Moon only comes around once in a blue moon. She is pointing her arrow directly at the version of you that stops making excuses and starts aiming.
The horizon is not something to escape toward. It is something to build toward. Intentionally. Freely. Fully yourself. Be the archer this moon, my love. Don't wait until conditions are perfect before drawing the bow. Breathe and trust your aim. And maybe, just maybe, the conditions were never the problem in the first place.
You've done the shadow work. You've felt the feelings. You've let what needed to end, end.
Now, what are you actually aiming for, love?
Happy Blue Moon!
With love & playfulness
