Sturgeon Moon in Aquarius 2025

August 9th, Sturgeon moon in Aquarius - truths (again), emotional detachment, and the sacred art of not giving a damn (unless it actually matters).

Ohhhh dear aquarius, beautiful unique aquarius. Only you can slap people in the face and give a hug at the same time. AND getting away with it by saying it’s out of love and ‘for your own good’... But to be fair.. we need and secretly love your “time for a revolution!” energy.

Personally, the past few weeks have been a whirlwind of “Who even am I anymore?” thoughts, paired with sudden deep insights that have me writing things down like I’m decoding my own manual (Thank god for Human Design). Ever since my body forced me into a slower rhythm, I’ve been watching my inner world rearrange itself. Getting used to feeling more freedom again thanks to the healing process, but at the same time, it’s many limitations. So it’s still kind of a reinventing-of-the-self-on-the-daily.

And now we are having another full moon, in Aquarius this time! I bet that if she could, this moon would be floating like a futuristic alien wearing colourful glitter eyeliner, holding a clipboard, saying:

“Alright, now listen up you special human.. Why are you still playing small? Get ready to finally break the damn system… your system!”

Because Aquarius doesn’t care about your comfort zone. She cares about truth, innovation, integrity and community. I’m talking real connection. Vulnerable connection. Purpose-driven, soul-aligned, “you’re not crazy, you’re just waking up” kind of connection. Not the community that just sends memes to each other every once in a while.

Meanwhile, the Sun is chilling in Leo, which means a part of us also goes like: “Hellooo?! Look at me! I want to shine!” And honestly? Same. But first, we’ve got to unplug from the noise and remember who we actually are.

So yeah, this Full Moon is less about grounding and more about breaking free. Shaking loose old systems (F*** THE SYSTEMMM 🤘🏻. Yes, especially the one in your head). Daring to show up as the you you know you're here to be.

Welcome to the revolution.

Why do we call it a Sturgeon Moon?

This Full Moon is nicknamed the Sturgeon Moon, named after a fish that’s been around longer than your limiting beliefs
It’s named after the time of year when the ancient, resilient sturgeon fish were most plentiful and therefore easiest to catch in the Great Lakes of North America.

Think about that for a second: these ancient creatures have been swimming the earth’s waters for over 130 million years, survived ice ages, evolution, and probably bad exes too. Yet still here. Still doing their thing. The Sturgeon Moon reminds us that power isn’t always loud or doesn’t always roar. Sometimes it swims in deep waters. Quietly. Steadily. Waiting for the right moment to surface.

So if you’ve been feeling like you’re in between versions of yourself (not quite who you were, not yet who you’re becoming) this is your moon.
If you’ve been drifting, pausing, recovering, or reevaluating everything from your values to your friend group: good. That’s the work.

Don’t rush the reinvention. Anchor into it.

Now let’s tap into your ancient underwater badass and let’s dive into what this Full Moon in Aquarius is actually here to stir up in your inner world, and how to work with it without losing your mind and how to work with it.

(I honestly still lose my mind over the fact that Aquarius is an air sign, not a water sign.. who approved that branding?)

Themes of this full moon

So… what are the big themes of this moon?
Truth. Liberation. Radical honesty. Detachment. Nervous system rewiring. Future visions. And maybe a tiny identity crisis in the name of growth.

Ever had an Aquarius friend gently knocking on your door asking if now is a good time for a small reflection? Nahhh… Aquarius is the sign that rips the band-aid off while starting a TED Talk about societal conditioning and your untapped genius potential. And I personally thank my (projector) Aquarius friends for some of my own biggest insights.

And just like those friends: Aquarius is weird. She’s wonderful. And she’s here to unplug you from systems that are quietly draining your soul.

So yes, this is a Full Moon of deconditioning.
Of zooming way out to see where you’ve been following scripts that don’t even feel like you anymore. And with the Sun opposite in Leo, your soul still craves visibility, expression, and authenticity. But Aquarius says:

“Cool, but are you shining from your truth… or from your ego?”

A.k.a. if you’re feeling emotionally conflicted, mentally wired, or like you suddenly want to shave your head and move to a commune - yes. You’re in the full moon energy.

Other feelings to be felt arreeee:

Restless but disconnected – Like you want to “break free” from your routine but also don’t know what tf you’re even running from.
Mentally overstimulated – Suddenly researching 17 different life paths at 2AM because you “just had an idea.”
Emotional disconnection or numbness – Aquarius energy detaches to protect. But check in: are you actually okay or just defaulting to logic mode?
Triggered by group dynamics – Realizing you’re either giving too much to others… or isolating to avoid being misunderstood.
Surprise insight or “a-ha” moments – Expect emotional downloads that feel like truth bombs. Write them down. This is an order.

Your body’s whisper (or scream)

Aquarius rules the calves, ankles, circulation, and nervous system. So if you’re feeling like:

  • Tingling limbs

  • Electric tension or fidgety legs

  • Random zaps of anxiety or brain fog

  • Twitchy sleep or dreams about the future you

  • Disconnection from your body (like you’re floating above yourself)

…yep, she’s working on you.

The body might be craving movement, like intuitive dancing, shaking, or shaking off static. Literally and emotionally. This is also a good time to:

  • Soak your feet (grounding your ideas)

  • Stretch your calves + ankles

  • Do breathwork to calm the nervous system

  • And drink extra water to help your circulatory flow catch up with your mind that's currently in hyperspeed

How to take care of yourself

We now know that this Full Moon’s energy is electric, fast-moving, and a little disconnected, so your self-care needs to anchor your nervous system without forcing you to “be in your body” if that’s overwhelming right now.

Here’s what that can actually look like:

  1. Unsubscribe. Emotionally.
A group chat that drains you? Mute.
Social media trap? Pause. I knooooowww you are thinking about a Social media-detox right? RIIIIGGHHT? 👀
A inner voice telling you all kinds of limiting thoughts? Give it a silly name and tell her to calm her tits: “Shut up Becky”, “Not now Tina”.

  2. Be okay with feeling floaty.
Aquarius is an air sign. If you feel spacey, detached, or like you're watching life from a distance, it’s okay. Don’t force grounding. Try gentle tethering instead: music, a warm drink or cacao, or talking to someone who just gets you.

  3. Limit exposure to collective noise.
Too much internet = energetic chaos. Aquarius is collective energy amplified. Protect your own signal. (detox, hint hint)

  4. Let yourself not know.
This one I’m partly saying to myself but… You don’t need to have a 12-month plan right now. Aquarius says: what if uncertainty is the doorway to innovation? Dare to not know.

  5. Follow the weird.
That random idea or that curiosity you’re secretly into? Follow it. Aquarius heals through future visions, innovation, and doing the unexpected. You never know what you’ll find unless you try.

What to focus on during yoga?

Clear the noise. Return to your frequency.

This isn’t the moon for heavy power flows or intense grounding drills. This is for nervous system resets, intuitive movement, breath-body reconnection, and activating your inner observer. These poses are meant to give you space, mentally, physically, energetically, so your inner truth can echo back to you.

We're working with the Third Eye + Crown chakras (clarity, insight, detachment)
…and just a sprinkle of Root chakra grounding (so you don’t float away into a conspiracy theory about your life purpose at 2AM).

1. Seated Easy Pose + Alternate Nostril Breathing (Nadi Shodhana)
This breath practice calms the mind and balances left/right brain. Perfect for when your nervous system is fried and your mind won’t shut up.

2. Puppy Pose (Uttana Shishosana)
A gentle heart opener that stretches the spine and shoulders without collapsing the lower back. Think of this as surrender without losing your structure.

3. Supine Twist (Supta Matsyendrasana)
Twisting helps wring out the mental chaos. It detoxes the nervous system and rebalances your energy field. It’s also a great “pause and reset” pose when you feel overstimulated.

4. Eagle Pose (Garudasana)

Sometimes we need to literally get tangled up to see and feel what is tangled on our insides. So it helps reveal energetic entanglements (relationships, thoughts, expectations). WIth a core question to ask yourself or the group you are teaching: What am I wrapped up in that I’m ready to release?

Bonus

Yoga Teacher twist: Pick two standard poses and encourage everyone to explore how they want to get there. This is an invitation to let them explore their unique methode with no instruction, just inner guidance.

Rituals for that moon energy

Normally, this is the part of the blog where I’d give you a few gentle suggestions, but this time I’m asking you to create your own.

You’ve already read through the themes. You’ve tuned into your body. Maybe by reading this far you’ve also explored your energy and some themes or ideas already popped-up.

So now the question becomes: What helps YOU shake off the noise and reconnect to your truth?
Not what works for your favorite influencer, your coach, your yoga teacher. What works for you?

Maybe it’s dancing. Maybe it’s walking in silence. Maybe it’s deleting 36 old voice memos from 2022 and finally admitting you’re never going to listen to them.
Whatever it is, trust it. Make it yours.

But who am I to leave you hanging? If you feel really stuck but wnat to do a ritual during this full moon (apart from the journal questions below), here’s 1 recommendation:

The Frequency Detox Ritual

Because sometimes the best way to reconnect to your truth… is by disconnecting from the noise. Let’s sayy… We are cleaning up your energetic Wi-Fi.
You’ll need: Your phone, a journal, silence

  • Scroll your socials for 5 minutes, but this time pay attention to your body.

  • What drains you? What lights you up? What makes you shrink?
    Now go: unfollow, mute, unsubscribe.

  • Then journal: “What am I ready to stop consuming so I can start creating again?”

This ritual isn’t dramatic or super spiritual. But it’s powerful, because we need to be conscious of what we are consuming and how that influences us.
Because Aquarius knows: a clean signal = a clear life.

Reflective journal prompts

1. Where am I still performing in order to be accepted?
2. What beliefs about myself or the world am I ready to uninstall?
3. What drains me that I keep saying yes to, and why?
4. If I didn’t care about what other people think of me… what would I start doing?
5. What does my future self know that I keep forgetting?

Aquarius’ parting words would be…

Now this moon might not be here to fix yourself, but it’s definitely here to help you unhook from everything that made you believe that there is something wrong with you in the first place.

Because the truth is, when you dare to be fully yourself,  you quietly give other people permission to do the same.

So, in the name of this full moon, may I invite you:
Don’t underestimate your weirdness. Your questions. Your softness and uniqueness.
The moment you stop performing and start vibrating in your own frequency, you become a walking permission slip for authenticity in a world addicted to approval.

Here’s to becoming the glitch in the system

That’s the revolution.
And it starts within.

With wild truth & clarity,
