Buck Moon in Capricorn 2025
July 10th, Buck moon in Capricorn - Steady steps, sharp truths, and new strength growing beneath the surface.
For the past 3 months, my life has been looking a little different. As most of you know, my body decided to hit the pause button, and since then, I've been spending most of my time lying down. Thinking, reflecting, and maybe for the first time in my life: properly resting. So I got a personal theme this moon: Rehab, recovery… and radical patience.
It’s a crazy time, but honestly? I feel as if I’ve been rebuilding from the inside out.
After tearing my iliopsoas and fracturing my femur in the process (100% don’t recommend) and recovering from surgery for R-CPD a.k.a. No burp syndrome (YES, it’s a condition that causes the inability to burp and YES I had never burped in my life until the day after my surgery last Tuesday 1st of July, little Burpina was born.)
My body said: “Sit. The hell. Down.”
So I did the one thing I could still do… I lay down. And guess what? Stillness can be a brutally honest teacher.
Just like Capricorn. Because Capricorn is a badass boss and she walks in wearing boots, holding a clipboard, asking:
“Alright, what are you building, and does it actually matter?”
Capricorn doesn’t play. She gives you a much-needed reality check. Like, great that you only want high vibes and sparkling manifestations, but.. have you properly done the work for it? She comes to check upon structure, legacy, and the deep, gritty why behind everything you're trying to manifest.
Meanwhile, the Sun sits in soft, emotional Cancer… pulling on your heartstrings and whispering, “Don’t forget to rest. Don’t forget to feel. And you feel allllll the feelsss”
So yeah, this moon is a bit of a paradox: tough love meets inner tenderness. Sacred ambition meets emotional truth. And this is exactly hitting the sore point of my inner world.
And for you? Now you are also right in the middle of it.
Why do we call it a Buck Moon?
This Buck Moon is named after the time when deer grow new antlers, which serves as a reminder that strength is regrown, not rushed. So if you’ve been healing, doubting, pausing, crawling instead of jumping… Good!
You’re right on time. In this fast-paced world where we push ourselves until we get injured or sick, this full moon is here to remind you: growth can be slow. But it’s still growth.
And with that being said. I’d like to take you on what this moon means for all of us and how to work with it.
Themes of this full moon
Well.. the big themes!: Discipline. Devotion. Doing the damn work (and resting when your soul says so).
Capricorn energy isn’t loud. It doesn’t come crashing through your life like a fire sign having an identity crisis. Nahhh.. Capricorn is the mountain goat, nice and earthy. It climbs. Slowly, deliberately, with every step rooted in purpose. And this moon? It asks you: “Are you actually building something that can hold you?”
So you could say that this is a Full Moon of accountability. Of realizing where your structures don’t actually support you, but just look good on the outside. Where your routines are just noise. Where you’ve been pushing toward goals that aren't even yours.
And with the Sun in emotional, intuitive Cancer standing opposite, this moon doesn’t just want your spreadsheets and five-year plans. Neeuuuuwwww.. It wants your why. Your softness. Your truth.
So if you’re feeling both deeply tender and strangely ambitious right now, congratulations! You’re fully in it.
Other feelings to be felt arreeee:
(aka: signs this full moon is doing her thing)
Restless, but tired - Like you want to get your life together… but also take a 4-hour nap.
Triggered by “progress” posts - Seeing someone else’s success might make you spiral into “I’m behind” mode. Capricorn shadow, hello.
Reflective AF - Wondering whether your job, habits, or goals still fit the version of you you’re becoming.
Emotionally overwhelmed - Cancer Sun stirs up old wounds, especially around safety, family, or not feeling "enough." If you or your friend is cancer, please give them a long hug.
Judgmental (towards self or others) - Capricorn energy can get critical when it feels out of control. Watch your inner voice.
Your body’s whisper (or scream)
Capricorn rules the bones, joints, knees, teeth, skin. So if your knees ache, your jaw feels tight, or your skin’s breaking out….. FREAK OUT!
No kidding, don’t freak out, of course, just see it as your body’s very inconvenient way of releasing energy. Jee. thanks..
You might also notice:
Stiffness or tension in hips and lower back
Digestive sluggishness (especially if you're holding onto emotional "weight")
Sleep disruptions (this Buck Moon is notorious for messing with melatonin levels)
How to take care of yourself
Let’s keep it real: Capricorn doesn’t care about your bubble bath unless it’s part of a system that restores your energy. So here’s how to actually care for yourself right now:
Grounded Self-Care Moves:
Do a body scan + gentle stretch before bed → Release the grip. Your body stores all the stuff your brain ignores. Especially joints.
Use magnesium oil or soak in Epsom salt → For muscle recovery, nervous system support, and better sleep.
Go tech-free for 2 hours before bed → This should be a given fact, but we all fall prey to this. But this moon already disrupts your melatonin. Don’t give it extra help.
Skin rituals! yay! → A clay mask or dry brushing to reconnect with your outer shell (because Capricorn is all about skin = boundaries)
Eat grounding, mineral-rich foods → Think: root veggies, lentils, seaweed, miso, tahini. Basically, food that feels like Earth energy.
Bonus: Emotional Reset
Journal your top 3 "pressures" and ask: “Is this truly mine to carry?”
Cancel one non-essential obligation this week. (Capricorn teaches us to prune so we can climb with less weight.)
Give yourself permission to pause. Rest is productive. Especially now.
And you know what can also help? My Capricorn full moon meditation! Take a moment for yourself and give it a try here.
What to focus on during yoga?
Capricorn energy asks for intentional movement. Earthy. Rooted. Functional. Theme: Root before you rise.
These poses are meant to stabilize your lower body, release stuck tension from joints, and remind you that a lot of hidden power and resilience is in the slowing down.
Standing forward fold (Uttanasana)
Gently lengthens the hamstrings, releases the spine, and invites surrender without collapse. Perfect for letting go of mental pressure while staying grounded through the feet. Invite yourself or your students to let your head hang heavy, and imagine all your "shoulds" dripping out of your spine and into the earth.Chair pose (Utkatasana)
Fire up the legs. Support the knees and strengthen your base. Activates willpower while also revealing where you’re resisting structure (aka: when you want to give up after 2 breaths).
Hold it. Stay. Breathe. This is your inner Capricorn training.Low lunge (Anjaneyasana)
Gently stretch the iliopsoas and hip flexors (hi personal connection 😅). Opens the pelvis and grounds the sacral/root chakras. Let go of old stuck energy that’s keeping you from moving forward. Optional: place hands on your front knee and close your eyes for 5 breaths. Feel the power in stillness.Bridge pose (Setu Bandhasana)
Strengthens glutes, supports the spine and calms the nervous system. This is the pose that says, “Yes, you can feel held AND strong.”
Invite your students at some point to add a block under the sacrum for a supported bridge. Even when they don’t want to, let them feel it is ok to feel supported and let them stay with the feelings that arise within them for doing so. Bad or good. Capricorn respects that kind of honesty.Legs up the wall (Viparita Karani)
A personal favorite of mine and one of the best grounding + restorative poses. This pose regulates the nervous system, soothes tired legs, supports circulation and digestion (hello Capricorn rulership), and relieves pressure from the lower back.
It’s great to use towards the end of your yoga flow, and maybe do this one with a pillow under your hips and your eyes covered. Let go of striving. Just receive.
Rituals for that moon energy
Discipline meets devotion. Release meets responsibility. Softness meets structure. She’s asking for quiet clarity. For grounded rituals that honor your growth, clean up your energetic mess, and remind you of your bigger why. These practices are here to help you reflect, reconnect, and reset. Deeply and intentionally.
1. The “Sacred Structure” Ritual: Capricorn loves clarity and sustainable foundations. This ritual invites you to recommit to what matters, without the burnout.
You’ll need: Your journal, a quiet space, optional candle and calming tea
Ask yourself: What’s one structure I can build this month that my future self will thank me for?
Write down ONE sacred commitment to yourself (daily movement, weekly rest, clearer boundaries, consistent content, etc.)
Light a candle and visualize yourself actually doing it. With joy. With devotion. Not punishment.
2. Moonlight Mapping : Capricorn energy = goal setting. But we’re not talking toxic hustle, that is not allowed here. Let’s zoom in on our aligned ambition.
Sit in moonlight (or candlelight if it’s cloudy)
Reflect: What do I want to create over the next 3–6 months that truly supports my healing, purpose, or peace?
Choose ONE priority.
Map out 3 mini steps you can take in the next week.
Remember: Tiny steps, repeated consistently, are the mountain.
3. Rest as Ritual: Under this moon, your nervous system might be overcooked from striving. Cancer energy reminds you: rest is a sacred act.
Take a bath with Epsom salt, essential oils (lavender, rosemary, or vetiver), and maybe a crystal like smoky quartz or black tourmaline.
No music. No distractions. Just you, soaking and breathing.
If you don’t have a bath, you can take a shower in the dark or candlelight with some essential oils on cotton pads nearby.
Choose one. Or do them all. But do it slowly, and with intention.
Reflective journal prompts
What goals or expectations am I currently chasing that don’t actually belong to me?
→ Are you trying to impress someone? Prove you’re “not behind”? Unpack the pressure.Where in my life do I need to build stronger foundations, and what would that actually look like?
→ Think daily habits, boundaries, routines, or relationships. What’s wobbly? And what needs structure, not control? What version of me am I currently outgrowing, and who am I ready to become instead?
→ What stories, identities, or habits no longer fit your favourite self? What would devotion, not discipline, look like for me this month?
→ Subtle shift, major impact. What if your to-do list became a love letter to your future self instead of a punishment for the present one?
Capricorn’s parting words would be…
You don’t need more vision boards. You need a backbone. A plan. A sacred yes. A committed no. Because no one is coming to build the life you want for you. That’s your job, girlly.
When the Capricorn moon looks you in the eye, hands you a blueprint, and says:
“I believe in the version of you that follows through.”
Will you take it?
This moon is here to make you feel stronger. That your power hides in your consistency, your devotion, your quiet decision to rise again and again.
So if you’ve been procrastinating on your growth… Putting off the thing you know would change everything… not during this moon, okay?
You don’t need to get it perfect. You just need to begin.
Brick by brick. Breath by breath. Slowly.
Here’s to climbing the mountain, not for the view, but for who you become on the way up.
With wild truth & fierce love,
Mariska | Amapola Healing
